Hi Sean,

best place to start is to read this blog

http://jeffhoogland.blogspot.com/2010/07/pinguy-os-distro-review.html

Its where I found out about PINGUY,

I tried MINT myself but was never that struck on GNOME so always ended up back on Kubuntu.  PINGUYOS seems, IMHO, to bring the best out of  Gnome and get over all the issues of getting things set up after a ubuntu install, that resembles more the custom builds I  had seem on youtube or other sites.  Personally, I cant wait till I get PINGUY OS with Gnome shell 3 mmm desktop greatness!

Its a small community at the moment as well so lots happening and time to influence what happens next.  So see the topic on default packages and suggestions for install options!

Pinguy has just loaded the OS on to a netbook with everything running without problems, however some have struggled a little.  There is a topic on this so take a quick look on this forum.

PInguyOS does have a backup program, but I dont know if its the same one as on MINT, someone else will jump in and answer that I am sure.

Try it as a LIVE USB first and see what you think.
