I got TV time up and running/installed on the usb pen drive. i cant figure out how to get it to recognise the feed(cable channel that's playing from the cable box). During installation, it asked to pick PAL, NTSC etc.. I picked pal and region as Europe. Once TV time was launched it didn't show any picture. On the TV time website under supported cards. "Philips SAA7134 chip" my dads card is actually "Philips SAA7130 chip" which does recognise  when typing "lspci".
According to the below article, kernels 2.6 and above should support this chip.

Some of the information in the above link i found to be completely over my head (although i did understand what was being said). But the article does recommend (as you suggested) to use TV time. So I'm at that stage at the moment. From what i gathered from that article, i need to load the driver?.
I was able to get "tvtime-scanner" open which launched a completely different application. I wasn't quite sure where to go from there.

If you have any ideas, they would be completely appreciated.
